If 癸 is Indirect Resource for 乙, does the presence of 亥 in the chart also act like Indirect Resource for 乙 too? Is the 10 Gods only about element + polarity (yin/yang)? I notice in plotted bazi charts they only label the heaven and hidden stems with the 10 Gods but I'm wondering about the earth branches - can't they be used as 10 Gods too?

No, only HHS in EB can be used as 10 Gods. 10 Gods are represented by HS and HHS always.

To my understanding, no, the Ten Gods must take into account the polarity as well as the element. So 亥 will represent Direct Resource instead of Indirect Resource.

Hi ismile, If you are talking about is 亥 a yang or yin 地支 then no doubt it's a yin. But if you are talking about is the 壬 hidden in 亥 a IR or DR then no question it's DR. 亥 is the house and who's at home? 壬 and 甲... Who's wearing the pants at home? For this house address at 亥 is 壬.

Then why does a yin house have yang staying in it as the main element? It's because of 12 长生. There's only 5 elements with yin/yang make up 10 but there's 12 branches. In the rules of 阴生阳死，If 壬 长生 @ 申 then it must 临官 @ 亥. In other words, all the hidden stems main element is in 临官 except earth is on 冠带. But due to 12 branches and 10 element in total, 戊冠带 at 辰 but 墓 at 戌. 戌 main element is still 戊. Same for 己 earth.

So a 壬辰 day born on a 戊戌 month, 壬 is strong or weak? Weak? Look at 12 长生表. For this bazi you say divorce I will agree but we cannot say bazi month and day EB clash mean divorce. The season plays a very big part on it.

So, you cannot say that 亥 has the influence or character of IR just because it's a yin house. 天干 is for 生克合 and 地支 is for 刑冲破害. When HS 丁 meet 辛 wants to 克 but when 酉 meet 午 nothing happen.
