There is explanation, around but I have it printed from topic, can't find where it was now. Will just rephrase it, was from Fireoperator again in some chart reading in free charts section:

    X戌丑戌 - 丑 not damaged

    戌X丑戌 - 丑 damaged

戌丑戌 - protects it from harm, coz they are from both sites of Chou and very close. I image something like crashing a car, if it's with a car far away it can make a lot of damage, if you are pushing the car that is right in front of you, and it is right next to one more car on the other site, can't make a lot of damage, because it's more pushing then anything else, too close to get speed for something more.

Of course there is still punishment valid, but it doesn't damage Chou.

No requirement there, so no here too.
The idea was that this explains everything, considering the Images associated to the Month pillar, everything else should fall into place, with this, including the missing examples.
(basically everything worked as we cleared out before, only thing missing was this rule, of 夹制)

    Quote
        Bing Wu Bing Gui
        Chen Xu Chen Wei
    Quote from: Fireoperator
The 2 辰 in the branches clashes with the 戌, subduing and damaging it in the process. This itself isn't good as 戌 is meant to be used and not spoilt.

With all the above interaction, chart is deemed useless, But is it also lucky that her chart is as such.

2 辰 clashing 戊 this clash is a special one as 戌 is in the middle of both 辰. In this arrangement, 戌 will never be spoilt. This is what we termed as "夹制". Hence she is lucky, if there isn't a 辰 at hour pillar it will be a direct clash with 辰 in the month branch. Under this circumstances, 戌 is bound to be spoilt and chart owner will die early.

Lets sum up without karma requirement, for people that are trying to learn and don't have karma.

It seems if we have 1 Tomb of each, the Tomb in month will damage the other one, otherwise no damage.

If we have 2 Tombs vs 1 Tomb(Xu, Xu Chou), then the 2 Tombs will Damage the 1 in all cases, except in the case of 夹制(the 2 are from both sites of the 1).

For opening seems different, though, but for Damage this covers all examples here, and may just be the full rule.

Important to remember, in Fireoperator examples Day Pillar is the third from left to right, not the second as it is in most English texts.

Interesting question is relation of Tomb "damaging", to "spoil" of Image, that is usually associated with Harm/Pierce. If we look at some of Fireoperator's posts, it gives impressions the two are very connected, and may be same effect more or less.

So we may be able to use this rules for Tombs, even for Harm/Pierce, though it seems in Harm/Pierce relation for "Spoil" all is very much related to the strength of the gang.
We can probably use it at least partially, as a way to evaluate gang strength as well.

I do think we have most of the rule here, and that is very nice.
Corrections are welcome as usual. Or thoughts etc. :)

    Hi Owlbear,

This sums up "damage" nicely for us without the karma. thank you  :) One thing I believe that had me a little confused before was "Chen Xu Chen", when I did not know that Mangpai does not consider self penalty; http://fivearts.info/fivearts/index.php?topic=414.msg12141#msg12141

    1. I have a few questions or additions
I wonder if @Jlim, @Puppylove, @FireOperator or other seniors  would go into it a bit more. It is interesting because self penalty is not considered, however (tomb/store closed/opened) if two Wu-Wu (Horse) and there is a Xu or Chen-Chen (is exception), Hai-Hai with Chen and You-You with Chou they automatically go into their respective grave and suggest some "work". My question is what image does self-penalty suggest if it not considered in Mangpai?

    2. Also can anyone elaborate on "spoil" and its correlation with "damage". For example How would Xu-you compare to Xu-chou (when relating exclusively to Harm->"spoil" and Tomb->"damage")?

    Thanks in advance  ;D

    Just a newbie opinion,
    1. In traditional bazi we see wu-wu, chen-chen, hai-hai, but in mangpai i think it doesnt see self punishment, but for hai-hai meeting che, surely both hai will fall to tomb, unless there's xu to clash chen and open the tomb...
    2. I think xu-chou is open tomb and xu-you is harm...

    Hello @Vroya,

Thank you for your response, I am newbie also. I agree with #1. However pertaining to #2. This is also a punishment as pointed out by @decha_woo below:

    1) Damages have to be access on a chart to chart basis. It just means the particular character is damaged.  Regarding its implications,  it's based on a chart to chart basis.  There's isn't a fixed guide.

    Thank you very much @FireOperator

Hmm... would you mind giving some further hint about "particular character"? I mean,... like if it is Xu-Wei punishment, is it Xu and/or Wei will be damaged, or the elements like Metal-Fire-Earth in Xu and/or Wood-Fire-Earth in Wei to be damaged, or some aspects other than these?....

I have read some cases like 2 Xu punished 1 Chou which explained like Chou will be more damaged... but don't know what was exactly damaged.... Xin in Chou?, or Chou itself (whatever it represents to the chart)....

Those are my exact confusion.....   :-\

    Please help...

It would be nice to know:
    1. If the damage/punishment (half bullying) is similar to the harm/spoil "image" used in Mangpai or if it is different?

    2. Who gets damaged when it occurs? Does this rely on gang strength. Is it the elements within the tomb/store or is it the tomb/store it self that gets damaged like decha_woo asked from fireoperator?

Again thanks for the reply. I'm just keen on learning fivearts, especially Mangpai :)

    Yes, pretty much so.

    2. Who gets damaged when it occurs? Does this rely on gang strength. Is it the elements within the tomb/store or is it the tomb/store it self that gets damaged like decha_woo asked from fireoperator?
Yes, it relies on gang strength, if the gang is stronger than the gang can control it.  What gets controlled can be the element within the Tomb/Store, or the Tomb/Store itself.  Example:
    庚戊甲乙
    戌子申丑

Metal, Water and wet Earth Branches can control hidden Ding inside Xu, but it does not damage Xu the Tomb itself.  It's because the gang is strong enough to control Fire, but not Earth.

What does this mean?  Xu is Wealth, located in the Year, which means country.  Xu is not well controlled.  He is not able to secure a government position, will not be a government officer.  Ding is well controlled, which is Shang Guan, so he has a certain skill that he can put to use for self-employment.

Again thanks for the reply. I'm just keen on learning fivearts, especially Mangpai :)

    Master @Jlim

For the above chart, Wu sitting on Zi, is it considered Zi controlling Wu above since Zi belongs to stronger gang? If that's the case then is XU tomb controlled by the water metal wet earth gang via Wu Zi? Wu being extension of Xu in stem.

    Thanks for the insight.

Based on only things in Chart, I would guess that Chou-Ox, Tomb of Metal, is too far from Xu. If Chou is nearer, especially, at Month EB (to be the strongest EB) Xu would be controlled better .....  :-\

If LP is involed, I would think Chen-Dragon would be the best controlling item because while clashing to control, Chen will combine with Day EB = DM getting it by an extent .....  :)

    ... Just my guess .....

If I see the clashing issue, then there are two kinds of issue:
    1. Group one, zi-wu, yin-shen, mao-you, si-hai
Basically this is two controlling clash with different element involved.
    2. Group two, chou-wei, chen-xu
It is like sibling clash, something like two people with good relationship quarreling over an issue, which is mostly same people or sibling or person with two competing ideas.

    Hi @Jlim ,

Thank you so much for the reply.

    * Would it be possible to look at it this way or am I way off base here:

-> Chou (metal store) to support Shen.
-> Shen then works with Zi (ban san he/gong)
-> Zi works with Xu (combine) and Wu (self combination. unstable)
-> also image of sub-representation and stem-branch swap making Xu and Wu one and the same and possibly unstable (easier to work with etc)

Would he be better able to utilize xu this way, especially since ding in xu is already not an issue?

    * Another question the government office is this because of stem-branch swap between Xu and Wu and wu being in month branch which denote government office, together with Xu can represent a dwelling?  :-\

    Thanks again.  ;D
