    « on: June 08, 2017, 06:33:04 PM »
    Hello Boys and Girls,

My name is Frank Coolen. I'm 50 years young and busy with the Yijing for 25 years now. I'm a member of an I Ching meetinggroup in the Netherlands, have written 3 books in Dutch about the Yijing and have been studying Chinese metaphysics intensly for the past years (theory in books about Bazi, Ziwei, Qimen, Liuren, Taiyi, Heluo Lishu, etc). Hope to find inspiration on practical use here. Regards from the Netherlands.

Welcome, may i ask this: What bazi book would u recommend for DIY individuals?  Please advise, thanks.

Hi ArtofFugue. Yes I know Liu Yao (or Wenwanggua or Wuxing Yi, or even Nadia Yishu dependable names from where you live... Different names, alsmost same 'system'. I'm critical to the Liuyao... as I'm wandering...There are 48 lines (8 x 3 as upper and 8 x 3 as lower trigram), and there are 60 Ganzhi combinations... where then do 12 of them go :-D?

Hi tyc. What is a 'DIY individual' :-D?. I'm still studying Bazi but am 'better' in Yijing. I do not have the greatest skills to let you know what a good Bazi book would be, although I like Vincent Koh' 'Reveil your Destiny', but also an 'oldie' like Hee Yin Fan's 'Discover your Destiny'. Still if you have patience and some money the 5 books series of Joey Yap is something else :-D... (still have to study them).

Heavenly stems' usage are not mandatory.

edit: Is it coincidence? Those books I threw them away several years ago during CNY spring cleaning.

Have wondered that question last year when learning Six Lines, the answer I found is "those 12 pillars are not used":

    Quote

The author above presumed it to be a "lacking" but I think it should be covered by the method itself like Si Hua Zi Wei which uses only 18 stars (is it a "lacking" when practitioners of this sect chose not to use the over 100+ stars like I do?).

Another author stated stem + branch pair is important because need to derive occurrence date. But I say, there're many other ways to derive occurrence date.

I've a feeling the 12 pillars has something to do with like the centre palace of Qi Men or 0/5 centre of hetu/lushu.

When stating opinions, practitioners should be careful of their choice of words. And what's more, most practitioners don't use (chose not to use) heavenly stems in Six Lines.

    .........

Franck impressed me by knowing Six Lines. I thought the western world is only good for churning out translations after translations of I Ching (Book of Divination). The whole market is so saturated with so many different translations of I Ching that I'm sick of it.

For once, I would also like to see those english authors stop calling "I Ching" and start using "Book of Divination" (if they call theirs a "translation").

Hi Axis, I'm not that advanced in WWG. I used it sometime ago and found stuff I was just wandering about. I'm not using it these days. I'm way better in using the Yi with those translations that makes ArtofFugue sick ;-), in combination with the attributions of the trigrams and my own discoveries. I use HLLS at daily bases, but also with my own ways and NOT with WWG, Liu Yao or whatever it is called (in the Heluo Lishu book WWG/LY is a part of the HLLS). I also am found of the Meihua technique. Thanks for the link.

ArtofFugue, thanks for the article in Chinese. Have to run my version of WenLin on it to read it :-D. The actual name of the book should be Yijing ('Classic of Transformation') but we all know what they mean if a german calls it I Ging, an englishman I Ching, a frenchman I King, and some dutch fellow I Tsjing... (bless you...). And if I start to impress people already by letting know that I know at least some stuff of Chinese Metaphysics...then I made some start here... But I'm a moddest person. I know nothing :-D.

In the meanwhile, should we continue the discussions about certain parts of the Chinese Metaphysics on other parts of the forum, as I was only introducing myself here :-D?

Those translations made me sick because they were money-spinners.

How do I know they were money-spinners?

Nice, gold embossed text on cover, hard-cover, thick paper quality, lots of irrelevant pictures, diluted content, etc all these adds up to overpriced price tag for the consumer to pay.
