The book you linked... It's author was so much influenced by Wilhelm in his own words, that we have to go into that...
While Wilhelm's teachers were obviously very connected to the Five Arts, people around him in the West were not...

This gets at his peak in Govinda's book where he starts with the idea that it's foolish to consider working with the 5 elements and the Yi Jing, and continues his whole book to try to go around them. Moving to DNA and all the other relations that have very little practical application, other then seeing they are there.

I'm saying this because this is the group that tries to ignore the actual system, rules and depth of it that the east uses and find material correlation like the DNA, binary systems, religion(mostly tibetan) etc.

While the connection to DNA seems to be valid, connection to the binary system is also obvious(however  Leibniz did know that apparently), this are very different movements then the Five Arts. They are interesting to see, but there actual practical application is very limited.

However some of the other things you mention are very much connected to them, like the Nei Jing...

So what exactly are you doing with Yi Jing that requires the hexagram names?
In TCM they use it still for divination and Nei Jing is TCM...
While the DNA and other relation doesn't have practical application as far as I'm aware.

Hexagram names are different in different translations. Also nice to remember, if you are using Wilhelm's translation, then you have the problem of Baynes. I've seen people speaking German that say he didn't do very good job with the translation German <> English.

So even if you learn all names in the English translation of Wilhelm, what will that accomplish?
Same problem for the German ones...
Or are you trying to learn the Chinese names?

I am trying to memorise the Hexagram names, doesn't matter whether it's the Chinese, English, German, Malay or whatever language there is as long as the meaning is there.

I have heard many masters ranging from Ziweidoushu, Bazi, Fengshui, Qimendunjia, TCM, Tao Te Ching, 6 Yaos, Tai Yi, etc. said that I Ching is the grandmother of all Chinese metaphysics, the Genesis of Chinese culture and if you can understand it, you can apply the principles in it in many aspects of life just like the movers and shakers in the world who have left a legacy behind in the world like Leibniz with his binary system that created the computers that you and me are typing now etc., just like what Wikipedia stated here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Ching%27s_influence.

Over the past few years while learning Qimen and few other Chinese metaphysics, I picked I Ching up again after left it for so many years as couldn't find the way to get into it but after I saw some principles in it that helped to have much better understanding of Qimen, Fengshui, Bazi etc., such as what is the relationship between Later Heaven Bagua with Fengshui, Qimen charts, how the Trigrams and Early Heaven Bagua can explain the Stars and Doors in Qimen, and many more.

Therefore I am curious to know whether there are likeminded people like me in the world who feel this way and try to see how we all can learn to master this grandmother of all Chinese metaphysics together in easier and more effective manners compared to the old ways?

Thanks for sharing this website, it's quite interesting as I found something similar to it in Chinese and I am now trying to make them simpler for me to remember.

I am happy to share my little understanding of QMDJ from what I've learned in I Ching, as you might already know, QMDJ is using the 9 Palaces, which is the Later Heaven Bagua configuration, and if you know QMDJ well, there are the 9 Stars such as 天蓬 or some translated it Heavenly Grass, which has the characteristics of 坎卦 such as bandit, kidney, creative, blood etc. If you can grasp the fundamentals of I Ching, then it'd be very easy for you to remember the characteristics of the Stars, Doors, Stems etc.

In JY's advanced class called Qimen Warcraft, there is a hexagram in every palaces which is formed from combining the Star and Door together and the strategy that you can use in related to the 36 Stratagems and depending on the level of the 7 Stars, you apply different strategy related to the Hexagram, so it's very useful if you can remember the Hexagram names by heart and according to some masters who will only shared in their advanced level course, you can plot a chart right away in your mind without the need of any software when you step into a place by seeing the things or people in that environment, which they said it is just applying the basic principles of I Ching.

Exactly how does tossing three coins randomly translate to meaningful interpretations?

It is assumed that the resulting coin tosses are not random at all, and, in fact, somehow...influenced?

Is it kind of like Ouija board?

There are many methods of divination with I Ching other than tossing 3 coins or with yarrow sticks, for example with Plum Blossom 梅花易数, you can use the time shown on the clock, anything that you see or hear, a set of numbers given by the asker etc., it's just like the film Matrix, you are able to see the hidden codes behind the apparent state at that moment to decipher the hidden message.

I am not sure whether you have watched Kung Fu Panda 3 before, there are a lot of messages from the Universe for us every second but we are just not aware of them, the ancient sages actually have found a tool which is called I Ching to decipher the messages from the Universe, that's why you can see from some movies (like the Chinese saying goes, 人生如戏,戏如人生 Human life is like a Movie and vice versa) that there are people who can tell that when few birds flew passed him/her, that person knows that something had happened at a place which is thousand of miles away, we human being have that potential in our DNA as that's our basic instinct but because we don't use it as often as the ancient sages do back then when they used more than 10% of their mind power, that's why now we are not as wise as the ancient sages before us.

    Hi jtorz132759468, All,

Some extracts "The Numerology of the I Ching" by Master Alfred Huang

"One day my blind friend showed me his secret for counting the gua in his hand (...)"

    Enjoy

     :)

Thanks for sharing some extracts from Master Alfred Huang's book and I think that it doesn't help people to understand the Hexagram names better and worse still, I find that what he wrote about "Qian is One, Kan is Two, Gen is Three etc." can really mislead people to misunderstand the fundamentals of I Ching, that's not the right way to memorise the Later Heaven Bagua, and there's a much simpler way to it which I have learned during my China trips, it's so simple that you will never forget it once you get it and from then onwards, you will not have to refer to anyone to know where the yearly 5 Yellow, wealth star and the other flying stars anymore.
