US-China trade war about to end.
The speaker of the video presents some very good points. However, the US-China trade war will continue for a long time to come. Unless China signs the deal as it has been negotiated. US continues to hit China with tariffs because it is collecting lots of money on Chinese imported goods. Many companies have completely or partially left China to avoid tariffs. China still wants to talk because they are on the receiving end.

I don't want to say win or lose thing, this is in the eye of beholder.

    My view:
China does not necessarily need to talk to US.
If this trade war does not solve within three years, the dollar would become rubbish paper day by day.
China just ask all country to use Yuan as a currency when got transaction with them, EU also do the same, the dollar usage would be decline.
And do not forget EU Calculus. If the EU pro with US, then the game would be different.
As long as EU stay neutral, then there is no way US can beat China.

EU Calculus is something that China keep eyeing on.
The idea of getting rid of US dollar has been out there for a long time. The flow of the Yuan is strictly  controlled by China. Opening it up and allow the yuan to free flow in the market. Then time will tell.

China plays to their advantage, they know the art of war better than anyone else. The best battle is the one you win without fighting.

What China doing now is signing up more trades deal with Europe, Africa, south-east Asia and many other nations. They are making friends and increase their influences on world issues. America on the other hand are doing the opposite.
Now who is moving forward and who is turning backwards?  ;D

You know, if China decides to use Yuan as the global currency they'll basically commit suicide. They tried long ago and horrified by the prospects of massive amounts of capital flight from the mainland, so they cancelled the project.
Despite the very strict regulation by China to control capital flight, rich Chinese prefers to hold US dollar and foreign property than Yuan because it's safer. ALL your wealth can disappear overnight in China if the CCP decides so. Adding the US China trade war on top, it has no doubt sped up the capital outflows even more.

The US doesn't need the global trade that much since it only counts as a small percentage of their GDP, so US lose only a little bit. China however needs constant expansion to fuel their growth model and promise of stability and wealth to their people.

Define "world issues", they are the most polluting nation of the world emitting lots of greenhouse gases, burning lots of coal, and polluting the ocean with plastics.

However, a faltering China is also bad for the US

The US doesn't need the global trade that much since it only counts as a small percentage of their GDP, so US lose only a little bit.

= This one is not logic.
Literally most of the goods come from Asia, smaller chunk comes from Europe.
So when US says she doesn't need China, it means that US produces everything itself, which defies economic logic. Everything would be expensive.
The reason US needs China and Asia as whole is to get cheap goods to sell.
That's why both very eager to roll on phase 1 of truce.

If US keep that 35% on the market, soon after US get recession.

China however needs constant expansion to fuel their growth model and promise of stability and wealth to their people.

= This one I agree. China keep predatory economy on assumption of expansion modelling, which is equally unsustainable.
She needs new market, which is Africa, etc to absorb China's excess capacity.
And China is helpless of domestic market, because it is counter to China's culture.
Who has highest saving rate (vs earning) in the world? Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, HK, Singapore.
And all of them comes from Asia, not surprising. That is culture thing, cannot be changed.

Define "world issues", they are the most polluting nation of the world emitting lots of greenhouse gases, burning lots of coal, and polluting the ocean with plastics.
= No difference with US. The main difference, China is much more brutal
But China does not export rubbish to third country.
But before 2010, I think US still no. 1 polluter in the world.
And other thing, US export rubbish to third country.

However, a faltering China is also bad for the US
= Agree, US got recession but not as severe as China. (If assumed China falter)
Basically this one is two face in same coin.
Hate each other, but still need each other to boost domestic growth.
