I noticed most strong DM born in Self element or 禄, especially if the resource element is not damaged and supportive of DM, tend to go for professional career, one that make use of knowledge, education and honed skills.

For example, lawyer, doctor, engineer, IT etc but usually NOT project manager or sales person. If they go into business, it is likely to be a professional firm.

Just wanna get your thoughts on this. 

Most likely so. The reason I would say is since resource is the one that performs work then DM should rely on it hence more often than not it's knowledge based. 祿 performs useful work is also along the same line but tends to be more laborious type of work. Resource in certain situations can also be seen as authority (seal) so I wouldn't be surprised if there are managers that also rely on resource.

Thanks for the discussion and this is my thoughts:

According to Mangpai theory, to determine careers/business and its position have nothing to do with strong or weak DM with or without support. It is about the combinations and using symbolism (象法) of the 10 gods, 4 palaces and HS/ER. It's all about the basis of 5 elements.

Resources depending on if it's direct/indirect will have different career directions, same goes to 禄 with different combinations.

I don't think I explain it very well but hope you get it. This is just my thoughts.
